Our Purpose
The mission, stories, and people behind the Heritage Harvest Project
Mission
History
The Heritage Harvest Project promotes regional heritage foods and (agri)cultural diversity by strengthening the connection between farmers, chefs, and local communities. We seek to build public awareness about the integrity of local food systems by showcasing heirloom produce, heritage meats, and sustainable seafood via delicious, educational events that feature the talents of local chefs.
Founded in 2009 with an heirloom seed garden at the Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth, NH. The first Farm-a-Q — HHP’s flagship annual event connecting the community with local food makers and related organizations — was held in 2012 and has continued to grow each year since. In 2022, the non-profit Cultivate was founded with HHP under its umbrella.
